HARSHANANDA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION CHILDREN'S HOME

Beginnings: A 7-year old orphan girl, Indira, lived on the streets. She became the foster child of Mr. & Mrs. Harsha Kumar. After 8 months she often fell sick and was diagnosed as infected by HIV. Despite medical treatment she suffered 3 months in bed and sadly died of AIDS on May 17, 2000. Thus, Indira was the inspiration behind the formation of the HMF Children Home for the children infected & affected by HIV/AIDS.

Today: Mrs. Gunavathy Kumar, the Founder and Director, of the home cares for 15 children with 3 other staff members. They provide love, counseling, education, medical treatment, food, shelter adn transportation for these children infected and affected by HIV live a happy healthy life. They are treated to Vacation Bible School, Music, Birthday Parties, Beach Trips and other normal children's activities.

Dedication: The Children's Home is dedicated to the memory of the Past President of Indian Leadership. He was tragically killed in an accident within a week after setting up a Children Home in 2007. His dream was to ensure that the children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS get the opportunity to lead a life with dignity like other children. Harsha Kumar went to be with the Lord on November 3, 2007 after a tragic accident in north India while he was preaching. Propelled by construction site blasting, a large rock fell through the roof of a church, killing Harsha instantly while he was preaching.
